The state's action intensifies pressure on an industry traditionally focused on immediate cost efficiency.

Green building codes and market demand for sustainable materials are expanding, yet widespread adoption remains limited by practical challenges: higher costs and availability issues. Despite aggressive mandates, the construction industry's reliance on traditional materials will persist. Current policy fails to adequately address the fundamental cost and availability barriers preventing widespread adoption of eco-friendly alternatives. 2. Bamboo

4. Cork-rubber Composites

Best for: Building insulation, soundproofing, and vibration dampening in commercial and residential structures.

Cork-rubber composites provide thermal efficiency, acoustic dampening, moisture resistance, and elasticity, according to IndexBox. The global market for this material is projected to increase 5-7% annually from 2026 to 2035. Building insulation drives 45-55% of global demand, with Europe leading consumption at 35-40%.
